Procurement Summary
The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s, MaterialMeasurement Laboratory, Materials Science and Engineering Division (MSED) has a requirement for a stable Bipolar Power Supply that addresses the nation's need for improvement in its semiconductor supply chain. The semiconductor supply chain is global, specialized, and interconnected. Chipmakers do business with thousands of individual suppliers that provide the highly complex materials and tools used to produce semiconductors. To address the lack of full visibility into the semiconductors markets supply chain and R&D ecosystem gaps, NIST will conduct the measurement science, or metrology, critical to the development of new materials, packaging, and production methods in chip manufacturing. The MSED is involved in the development of standard reference materials (SRMs) for magnetic moment – a critical standard for measuring magnetic materials for next generationmemory and computing. The SRMs are certified using the NIST-built Absolute Magnetometer, a unique custom instrument. For SI-traceability, the magnetic force acting on the SRMs will be measured as a function of the applied magnetic field gradient. To produce an accurate and stablemagnetic force, this work requires a very stable bipolar power supply. The power supply will be integrated into NIST’s Absolute Magnetometer and must communicate with the control computer of the Absolute Magnetometer system.
