Automated, remote, continuous monitoring halter system for beef and Jersey dairy cattle feeding behavior measures in grazing research projects. The system monitors eating (head up and head down differentiation), rumination, drinking, number of rumination boluses, rumination chews, number of mastication bites, number of prehensive bites, and grazing bouts; must include both a tri-axial accelerometer and noseband pressure sensor; raw data accessible via USB; wireless capability with all data available and sensor performance metrics in real-time; battery life of at least one month continuous run time; and data retention of at least one month. RumiWatch in the only automated, remote monitoring halter system for cattle feeding behavior, specifically for use in grazing cattle. It is the only system on the market that reports the following behaviors due to its unique noseband pressure system: number of rumination boluses, rumination chews, number of mastication bites, number of prehensive bites, and grazing bouts. Additionally, due to previous use of this technology in our research program, it is essential that we continue with the RumiWatch system to ensure continuity of the research program and measurements over time.
