Waiver type - Procurement: Nonavailability

Agency: VETERANS AFFAIRS, DEPARTMENT OF (3600) • Product Service Code (PSC) : 6515 | Last Modified: 07/01/2024

Procurement Summary

This procurement action is for Guldmann brand GH3+ Ceiling Lift Systems for the VA Health Care System. The contractor will be required to provide a total of eighteen ceiling lifts, with sixteen of those for patient rooms and two for bariatric patient rooms with ceiling lift motors that have trainer module technology with 770lb lifting capacity. The lift systems are unique to Guldmann Inc. for which lift systems are already installed at the VA facility and the additional lifts must be compatible with the existing systems and equipment. Mixing different ceiling lift systems and accessories amongst the various brands is not an acceptable common industry practice. Each brand adds their own unique features that no other lift manufacturer possesses.

Waiver Rationale Summary

No domestic products, or any other brand, were found with the unique capabilities that integrate with the Guldmann brand ceiling lifts and systems. These features give an added value of supporting patient rehabilitation needs and equipment resource management not found in any domestic or other brand of ceiling lift product.
