Universal Robots (UR)-10e collaborative robotic arm

Procurement Summary

The Engineering Laboratory (EL) requires two collaborative robotic manipulator arms, on a brand name basis for the Universal Robots (UR)-10e collaborative robotic arm. The new UR10e robotic arms will be used with existing equipment and assist EL in the creation of standards for benchmarking the performance of coordinated control between separate robotic arms. The manufacturer of the UR10e is Universal Robots, located in Denmark. EL is seeking the UR10e robotic arms due to continuity of science and compatibility with existing equipment and research protocols. EL seeks to quantify the coordinated control measure between robot systems, which needs to be performed using two arms from the same manufacturer to measure the information exchange time between robotic arms. The UR10e robot arm is the only arm that has an integrated joint torque sensor at the wrist that can achieve all stated requirements. In addition, the robot arms must be compatible with the existing Robotic Operating System 2 currently in use at NIST. Only the UR10e can meet that requirement.
