Procurement Summary

Military Sealift Command requires Steam Stop Valves. A sources sought notice was not issued on sam.gov. Known vendors who could supply these parts were previously identified during market research. A combined synopsis/solicitation was issued in accordance FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The solicitation was posted to SAM.gov as a Total Small Business set-aside. Two quotes were received from capable distributors; both quotes for the Steam Stop Valves provided valves made in China. No offer for a domestically manufactured product was received. Based on the results of the market research and the results of the posted solicitation, it is determined that an item which meets the Government’s need is not produced or manufactured in the United States in sufficient and/or reasonable available commercial quantities and of a satisfactory quality. A domestically manufactured items is not available to meet MSC's need. It is hereby determined, consistent with FAR 25.103(b), that these items are not domestically available.
