Procurement Summary
The purpose of this acquisition is to procure a Baker Ruskinn InvivO2 1000 Dual Workstation or equal. The Baker Ruskinn InvivO2 1000 Dual Workstation has 2 independently controllable closed cell culture Chambers delivering very stable O2, CO2, temperature and humidity control for continuous physiological oxygen and hypoxic cell culture experiments. This workstation provides physiological cell culture normoxic, hypoxic and anoxic conditions within a controlled and sustained environment.
Waiver Rationale Summary
The mission of the Gene Regulation Section is to study epigenetic changes during V(D)J recombination, as multiple epigenetic marks have been proposed to contribute to the regulation of antigen receptor gene assembly via V(D)J recombination. A key facet of this research is performing experiments that subject cell cultures to normoxic, hypoxic and anoxic conditions within a controlled and sustained environment. However, before those experiments can take place, the Section must acquire a hypoxia workstation that meets its requirements. The only hypoxia workstation we have been able to identify which meets all of the requirements is the Baker Ruskin Invivo-1000.
