Procurement Summary
The NIDA IRP Cellular Stress and Inflammation (CSI) is looking to procure a new imaging system to examine protein through western blotting and other assays. CSI was established for the purpose of studying the role of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and inflammation in neuronal dysfunction caused by substance abuse or neurodegenerative diseases. Immunohistochemistry and fluorescent microscopy is an essential technique for the CSI examine and quantify target proteins. The primary digital imaging system for slides is operated and run by the Histology and Imaging core and shared with several laboratories within the Intramural Research Program. The required system will allow the CSI lab to examine cell and tissue samples on well plates in addition to slide prepared samples with less wait time. Obtaining a APX100 system will reduce hundreds of hours creating and reproducing protocols and SOPs as the lab is familiar with the software and the objectives are compatible with current equipment within the lab.
