The results of the market research and Request for Quote (RFQ) demonstrate that there are no known commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) benchtop dissociators available from domestic manufacturers that offer fully automated and standardized tissue dissociation or homogenization for up to eight samples. The Miltenyi Biotec GentleMACS Octo Dissociator with Heating Units is a foreign end-product and is the only known COTS product that will satisfy the Government's requirement at this time. The GentleMACS Octo Dissociator with Heating Units is proprietary to Miltenyi Biotec, Inc. and is manufactured in Germany. The required device is not mined, produced, or manufactured in the United States in sufficient and reasonably available commercial quantities or of a satisfactory quality.
