Procurement Summary
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) requires a Cellix Venaflux Starter 1.0 (quantity 1), Vena8 Fluoro+ Biochip Pack 10 (quantity 5), and a Biochip-Connect Biochip Single Outlet Cable, Pack 10 (quantity 1) (brand name or equal) to facilitate the measurement of thrombosis/clotting in a human vascular cell model in a quantitative and reproduceable manner suitable for higher throughput. The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NCATS is in need of an instrument that can measure changes in clotting upon exposure to various toxicants in a human endothelial cell model. This method must be quantitative, reproducible, cost effective and able to interface with the existing infrastructure. NCATS, as part of its commitment to the Tox21 Consortium, is responsible for finding a model human cellular system that can measure the effects of various toxicants on the cardiovasculature. The Gerhold Laboratory has found that a number of these toxicants may affect coagulation and thrombosis transcriptionally, and would like to confirm that these results are physiologically relevant in a model system that can measure changes in coagulation and thrombosis. The system will require a pump, microscope adapter that will interface with an Echo Revolve microscope as well as relevant software to control the system and collect data. The Cellix Venaflux Starter System provides a microscope adapter along with flow pumps with 8 microcapillary flow chambers that will allow a model human cell line differentially treated) to be perfused through the chambers and allow measurement of flow/coagulation to software that will quantitate differences in response to different treatments concurrently across the 8 chambers. The system will interface with an existing Microscope and will allow data acquisition to software unique to the instrument.
